PLAYING THROUGH PAIN
Just before the halftime break of Game 2, Joe Devance landed awkwardly in a rebound play and had to be subbed out of the game.
Feeling the pain as he was making his way back, the San Mig Coffee Planet anticipated the worst.
But to their surprise, Devance came out, had his legs massaged and provided the much needed energy to contribute in the 80-70 Game 2 victory for San Mig to equalize the series at one game apiece.
“My ankle hurts because it’s a little sore but it’s alright. It’s not too bad. I can play through it, so it’s all good,” Devance said.
The San Mig forward has constantly contributed to the cause of the Coffee Mixers despite being banged up all season long.
“My knee has been bothering me for the whole conference and then in the semis, my right ankle got hurt. Now, it’s the left one, but it won’t be a problem,” he said. “Once I get the feel of how they’re guarding me and what the referees are allowing, I’ll be better. Once I find my comfort zone, I’ll do a lot better so hopefully, I can find it in the next game.”
When asked if fatigue has been a factor in the first two games, Devance only mustered a simple statement.
“We’re not tired at all. We’re locked in.” (RL)
