CRUZ LOOKING FORWARD TO BE AMONG CHOSEN FEW COME SUNDAY
From mixed martial arts, Jericho Cruz shifted to basketball some years back. Now he is on the verge of moving up to the highest level of competition this side pf hoopdom.
Raised in Macau where he was exposed to the high-contact sport of MMA, the former Adamson Falcon believes that the experience he has gained from the UAAP, the Sinag Pilipinas national team in the SEA Games, and with Blackwater in the D-League, is enough for him to be selected in the 2014 Gatorade PBA Rookie Draft this Sunday.
“Ok naman, pwede na,” he said, moments after finishing his course in the 2014 Gatorade PBA Draft Combine. “Nagkakapaan pa yung draftees, madulas yung bola eh. Pero overall, pwede naman. Ok naman yung ginawa ko sa offense and defense.”
The 6-foot-1 Cruz doesn’t want to indulge himself on speculations regarding his fortunes come the rookie draft, as he said, “Bahala na si God dun.”
“For me, ok naman yung ginawa ko. I think I did above average naman,” he said. (RL)
