PRINGLE CONTINUES TO IMPRESS BATANG PIER COACHES
Good as advertised.
GlobalPort was impressed with the work ethic shown by number one overall pick Stanley Pringle in their practices, saying the Batang Pier got the right man in the 2014 Gatorade PBA Rookie Draft.
“Ang galing. Ibang iba sya dun sa nakita namin sa (Draft) Combine. Talagang masipag,” said assistant coach Bonnie Tan.
Assistant coach Senen Dueñas added, “Akala mo pang-NBA eh.”
Many scouts have pegged Pringle to be in the mold of a Jayson Castro, a slashing point guard who has a knack for taking over the game whenever he feels like it.
And that just suits coach Pido Jarencio fine.
“Siya talaga yung kukunin namin at masaya kaming di kami nagkamali,” the coach said.
With training camp already in full swing, Jarencio is experimenting on utilizing a three-guard lineup, putting Pringle alongside Terrence Romeo and Alex Cabagnot.
And so far, the results have been positive, with the Batang Pier nailing morale-boosting wins in the tuneups.
“Magagaling yung mga players natin. Tingin ko kaya naman nilang mag-sabay-sabay sa loob. Sana yung magandang resulta, magtuloy-tuloy,” he said. (RL)
