YOUNG STUDS OUT TO SHOCK VETS IN ALL-STAR OBSTACLE CHALLENGE
In years past, the Obstacle Challenge has been a hub for the veteran playmakers as they dominated their counterparts in more ways than one.
But in this year’s competition, the young guys will really give the vets a run for their money as a lot of fresh faces grace the All-Star side event.
Barako Bull’s RR Garcia is one of those neophytes and this early, he’s booming in anticipation.
“Excited ako kasi first time ako makakasali dun. Bibigay ko yung best ko para naman maipakitang kaya ko talagang makipagsabayan,” the sophomore sentinel said.
Another of the new guys joining the list would be Brian Heruela, who will carry Blackwater’s colors in the midseason showcase.
“For me, I’m thankful for the chance,” the Cebuano rookie said. “I want to represent my team because it’s not just about me, this is also about my teammates and the organization.”
Surveying the competition, both guys acknowledged that it would be a tough field to be in, as they go toe-to-toe against four-time champ Jonas Villanueva and reigning Obstacle King Mark Barroca.
“Mabibilis yung mga yun eh,” Garcia said. “Si Mark, defending champion sya so kung makita ko sya na mauna sa akin, challenge talaga sa akin yun.”
Heruela added, “I’m looking forward to it and have fun. I want to go there and enjoy it with the other players. I’m sure it will be a good experience for me as a rookie.”
Other young studs which will be bidding for the crown will be rookies Stanley Pringle and Chris Banchero, Jeric Fortuna, LA Revilla, and Simon Atkins. (RL)
