ALL-STAR SURPRISE PICK CREDITS HARD WORK
In probably one of the biggest surprises of the 2015 PBA All-Star Weekend, Meralco’s Reynel Hugnatan made the cut and will be suiting up for the South in the All-Star Game on Sunday.
“Nagulat na nga lang ako eh. Si Jared Dillinger yung nagtext sa akin at nag-congrats,” the 36-year-old forward from Bacolod City said.
Playing in his sixth All-Star Game, Hugnatan said that he’s happy to have been selected by the PBA head coaches to be one of the South All-Star reserves.
“Masaya din sa feeling kasi magiging part ako ng All-Star na to,” he said.
To many, Hugnatan’s inclusion might be a bit of a shock, considering teammates Dillinger and last year’s All-Star Game MVP Gary David were left out in the cold. But for the big man, he says that he’ll try his best to raise the flag for the Bolts in Palawan.
“Para rin sa team namin to,” he said.
Hugnatan’s selection, however, is a testament to the coaches’ admiration for a player’s hardwork.
“Siguro ganun nga yun. Alam natin na yung mga tulad ni Vic (Manuel) at Gabby (Espinas), mga hardworkers sila eh. Ganun din ako at yun ang gusto ng tao,” he said. (RL)
