ALL-STARS IN OUTREACH THURSDAY
Thursday marked the official start of the 2015 PBA All-Star festivities. Basketball fans lined the streets as their hardcourt heroes made their way around the city.
In the morning, Commissioner Chito Salud and the All-Star Rookies and Sophomores brought smiles to the faces of patients at the Ospital ng Palawan. The players made the rounds of the different wards, and gave the patients T-shirts and gifts.
Even the nurses and doctors at the hospital couldn’t get enough of the players as everyone took their turn in having their pictures taken with the young basketball stars.
Lunch was served at the Governors’ Pavilion courtesy of Palawan Gov. Jose Alvarez, also the team owner of the Kia Carnival squad.
In the afternoon, the Skills participants, joined by some of the North All-Stars, went on a tree planting activity in Barangay Mangingisda, some 45 minutes away from Puerto Princesa City proper.
Comm. Salud and the players likewise stood as witnesses to the formal donation of a single-storey school building by Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corp, led by its VP for Corporate affairs and former PBA Governor JB Baylon, to the Bgy. Mangingisda National High School. (JL)
