YUP, THERE’S ROOM FOR ANOTHER GUARD AT GLOBALPORT
Make way for another court general in the already guard-heavy GlobalPort squad.
Omar Krayem gave a good account of himself in his PBA debut, with the Palestinian sparkplug unloading 18 points on 3-of-8 shooting from three-point country, to go with eight rebounds and four assists as he helped GlobalPort to a big win Tuesday night.
“It was fine, a good team win. We played hard, physical, but it’s a good game,” he said.
Though people expected another guard to muck up an already cramped GlobalPort backcourt, Krayem proved to be the opposite as he meshed well with coach Pido Jarencio’s rotation.
“Terrence (Romeo) was a hell of a player. Stanley (Pringle) is coming back, so it’s good that we have players who can play,” he said.
Krayem also praised Romeo, saying, “He got big heart. I like playing with him. He makes my job easier. A lot of people think we’re gonna bump heads, but that guy is an amazing player. It’s all about winning. Good players can play together if they want to win.”
On a more personal note, the 5-foot-11 Krayem hopes that this should signal the start of a good run for GlobalPort, considering that they didn’t really have a tuneup game to prepare for the conference.
“I felt good. I just played the game the right way: play hard. Hopefully, we continue to win,” Krayem said, adding that it was a pleasure for him to suit up in the PBA. “It’s an honor to be here and play. And it’s fun. We just got to continue to build as a team and go from there.” (RL)
