SO FAR, SO GOOD
Since being traded to GlobalPort at the start of the conference, Doug Kramer has seen a surge in his numbers.
But for the hard-nosed veteran, the rise in his stats is just due to the opportunities given to him in the Batang Pier fort.
“I’m getting more minutes,” he said. “Sa San Miguel naman, you got main guys in Arwind (Santos) and June Mar (Fajardo) so definitely, you need to give them 35-40 minutes. Parang yung sukli, dun nabibigay sa kin.”
“I don’t care who you are, but if you get spot minutes, it’s hard to perform. But we’re all in the PBA for a reason and I know I can compete as long as minutes are given. It’s a matter of taking advantage of the opportunities and the minutes given to me and it’s paying off.”
Along with Billy Mamaril, Kramer’s arrival provided GlobalPort a strong veteran presence in the paint. And the well-travelled frontliner likes the Batang Pier’s chances.
He said, “It balances out. Kami yung beterano, then you have young guys still wanting to prove themselves in the league. You have Stanley (Pringle), Terrence (Romeo). The guys are just out there to prove that we’re a good team and we have a good lineup.”
With GlobalPort carrying a 4-2 card, Kramer believes that the team can sustain its good form as the conference wears on.
“So far, so good,” he said. “Yung first three wins, it’s a big thing na nakuha namin agad. As long as we keep on winning, we stay on top.” (RL)
