Barako Bull sends Ababou to Talk ‘N Text
Talk n Text, in the process of retooling its squad for the 2016 PBA season, has acquired resurgent wingman Dylan Ababou.
In what many see as a welcome and positive development, the Tropang Texters struck a deal with Barako Bull on the trading floor, getting the former UST three-point artist in exchange for the Energy’s 2016 second round draft pick.
The PBA Commissioner’s Office approved the trade on Wednesday.
The sweet-shooting Ababou bolsters the Tropang Texters wing position, and also infused younger blood to the aging TNT squad which is hoping to contend this season and defend its Commissioner’s Cup title.
Barako Bull has been perceived to deal only with teams from the San Miguel group and it has been some time since the Energy has executed a trade with a team under the rival MVP group umbrella. And for long-time followers of the league, it’s certainly a step in the right direction, as the Barako Bull – Talk ‘N Text deal signals a more open line among teams when it comes to player movements.
For the Energy, it’s also a much needed shot in the arm as they continue to strengthen their team.
