Innovations continue to come as the PBA ushers in its 41st season.
Apart from the usual two-game slate per gameday with the league’s top stars slugging it out, the ladies will also have their time to shine.
“We’re trying to fill in the gaps in between the games,” said PBA commissioner Chito Narvasa, as the league opens the PBA Dickies Women’s 3-on-3 Tournament.
“Our driving principle is for the PBA to extend its fanbase. And what we saw was the most neglected was the women’s basketball. It generates a lot of interest, so other than the D-League, we decided to put this us.”
Twelve teams composed of four players are divided into two groups and will play a single-round robin elimination round where the top four teams in each group advance to a crossover playoffs.
The games will be played on Wednesdays and Fridays at the same game venues, starting on October 21.
Familiar names are set to see action with the likes of Camille Sambile and Allana Lim leading Blackwater and Denise Patricia Tiu spearheading Alaska.
