Chico Lanete under observation after sustaining eye injury
Chico Lanete will be under observation for the next 24 hours as the Barako Bull playmaker inadvertently got hit in the right eye in the final minute of the Energy’s 82-79 win over Ginebra on Saturday.
Barako Bull assistant PT Mark Mabazza said that Lanete has been taken to San Juan de Dios Hospital in Pasay City for further check up.
“May redness sa eyelid at may konting kalmot sa ilalim ng mata. Ang concern ng doktor is yung pamumula ng mata at yung maga,” he said.
Mabazza explained that Lanete’s right eyeball was poked by LA Tenorio’s right hand, after the latter’s arm bounced off of a hard Mick Pennisi screen at the 1:03 mark of the fourth quarter.
Aside from the swelling, the seasoned veteran also incurred a cut under his right eye, which left him bloodied as he went back to the bench.
Barako Bull, however, can breathe that sigh of relief as a surgery has been ruled out.
“Sabi naman ng doktor sa PBA, di naman ooperahan. In 24 hours, may update na tayo,” said Mabazza.
