Find out what ‘YouTube Cook’ Alex Mallari’s Christmas dinner specialty is
There’s one dish that won’t be missing from Alex Mallari’s Noche Buena spread.
Especially since he’s in charge of making it.
The energetic Star Hotshot winger takes pride in serving his guests his version of “Deviled Eggs” come Christmas time.
Mallari, who has grown fond of cooking, said that he learns through trusty YouTube tutorials and has developed quite an extensive personal cookbook.
“I’m a YouTube cook. I copy them and I take the credit,” shared Mallari, who said he also has variations of pasta, steak, risotto rice, breakfast dishes, and salmon among others. “When I got really bored, I just started watching cooking channels and took interest in it. It’s fun.”
Just a novice when it comes to the kitchen, Mallari admits that he has become fascinated with cooking and has turned it into a hobby.
“I just like starting from scratch and turning it to a dish. It’s like a hobby,” he said.
But as much as he wants to be adventurous when it comes to whipping up meals, “I don’t want my guests going home throwing up.”
Though he said there’s no secret ingredient to his cooking, he tries to nail everything up to the littlest details.
“Some of the dishes are hard. You really have to get it right to the last inch, cause if you don’t, it might taste bad.”
Fortunately for him, he hasn’t encountered negative reactions to his cooking, as guests have been raving about Mallari’s recipes, but the cook, who will once again be busy this Christmas—not just on the court but in the kitchen as well—downplays the affirmative responses.
“They like it. They don’t love it, they like it. It’s good to get positive feedback, I guess. But I got to work on it,” he said. “I cook for my dog.”
