Christmas has long been associated with sharing and gift giving, and naturally, some of us have a “wishlist.”
When asked what would be the “ultimate” gift they would want to receive this Holiday season, these PBA players provided a variety of thoughtful, interesting, and some hilarious answers.
Good health for themselves, their families and their teammates was the top wish among these studs.
“Syempre good health sa parents, kapatid at pamilya ko. Sa team ko sana healthy kami lagi at maganda itakbo ng team namin,” said San Miguel big man June Mar Fajardo.
NLEX’s Garvo Lanete said, “Forever healthy and peace sa family and long lifespan sa career ko.”
TNT’s Dylan Ababou wants the same thing for Christmas—-only with a little extra.
“Good health. Wish ko din maging more devoted to God ang mga tao, more dependent, at magkaroon pa ng lalong malalim na devotion sa Kanya,” Ababou said. “Tapos makapag-Finals ang TNT at mag-champion.”
Players like Jonas Villanueva and Arwind Santos would really love some time with their families this Christmas.
“Sa akin yung kumpleto yung family ko. Christmas is the time when families gather. Gift yung healthy yung baby ko, okay na ako doon. Yun na yung Christmas gift na gusto ko,” said the NLEX guard, whose first born is turning five months in December.
The Beermen’s veteran lanky forward would also like to give back to fans this Christmas.
“Kung meron kang time na makapagbigay saya sa mga taong nangangailangan gawin mo. Lalo na kung ikaw yung tao na iniidolo ng mga kabataan at kapwa mo wag mo ipagdamot, bigyan mo sila ng oras kasi napagalaking bagay na nun sa kanila.”
Understandably, the Ginebra players couldn’t help but wish for something they haven’t experienced in a long time.
“I want to win a championship. That’s the best Christmas gift I can get,” the Kings’ giant Greg Slaughter said.
“A PBA championship!” Nico Salva also said.
Rain or Shine’s Jericho Cruz also wants that 2015-2016 PBA Philippine Cup ring for Christmas.
“It has been my dream since I was a kid,” said Cruz.
Alaska’s Dondon Hontiveros, meanwhile, wants his Aces to at least get to the top two in the PBA playoffs.
“Syempre matuloy yung magandang laro para maka-top two kami para may time mag-improve yung team. Sa akin naman, mapagpatuloy lang yung magandang relationship sa lahat and good health para ma-extend pa ang career.”
Meralco’s Simon Enciso, meanwhile, had one thing in mind when you say Christmas gift.
“I want a wheelboard!”
