Uichico not pushing panic button yet over TNT’s 1-3 start
Tropang TNT’s slow start into the 2016 Commissioner’s Cup doesn’t seem to concern head coach Jong Uichico.
Uichico shrugged off TNT’s latest debacle — a 108-100 loss to Alaska on Wednesday night — for their third loss in four games.
The game marked the debut of its new import David Simon, who arrived last Monday.
“They (Alaska) just made a run somewhere, had a lot of fastbreaks and shots on threes. We just need to fix that and we’ll be alright,” Uichico told reporters.
“So we’re [1-3], two games we didn’t have an import. Now we have the numbers, we’ll fix it from there.”
TNT is currently in a tie with Star in the bottom of the standings with only seven games left in the elimination round.
But Uichico isn’t leaning towards pushing the panic button yet especially with new import leaving a good first impression in his PBA debut.
“He gave us the numbers that we needed,” said Uichico.
Simon, who replaced the suspended Ivan Johnson, scored 35 points and 19 rebounds.
“Just keep with the process and then let’s see what happens day-to-day.”
