The clock is ticking for Alaska and Blackwater .
Stuck in the bottom four of the standings, both teams are in danger of missing the playoffs in the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup.
But on Sunday, only one team will buck that trend as the Aces and the Elite clash at Smart Araneta Coliseum at4 p.m.
Coach Alex Compton was at loss for words following Alaska’s 106-103 defeat to San Miguel last Wednesday.
Even though LaDontae Henton churned out his best scoring output to date at 45, that still wasn’t enough to pull off one over the Aces’ fierce rivals.
However, that should serve as a welcome sign for Compton, with Henton now adopting to the league’s nuances, allowing him to perform at par with his local teammates led by Calvin Abueva.
Alaska needs every positive thing it could get, with its 2-5 card putting it on the brink of elimination.
Meanwhile, Blackwater is just aching to chalk one in the winning column anew after dropping five straight games.
At 1-6, the Elite no longer have any room for errors as they sat at the cellar for the majority of the conference, with their last loss coming at the hands of Mahindra, 97-88 last Sunday.
Coach Leo Isaac would want nothing else but to make a late run as he eyes only the franchise’s second playoff appearance.
And he would need a lot from his imports Eric Dawson and Imad Qahwash, as well as locals Carlo Lastimosa and Denok Miranda to finally end their skid.
