Jeric Teng ready to prove worth with Mahindra
Jeric Teng found himself in an unfamiliar territory after being signed up by Mahindra a few days ago.
But for the former University of Santo Tomas standout, it was an opportunity to underscore his talents to a team still searching for its first win.
The 6-foot-2 shooting guard made a quiet debut after scoring just 3 points and grabbing a rebound in eight minutes of play in the Floodbuster’s 91-94 defeat at the hands of the San Miguel Beermen on Sunday.
“Actually, four days pa lang ako nagpa-practice eh. So I’m still trying to know yung system ni coach at yung mga teammates ko rin siyempre, I still have to jell with them,” Teng explained.
Contrary to his stint with Rain or Shine, Teng played longer minutes and even saw action in crucial moments with his new ball club.
“I just have to be ready, any time kasi pwede akong tawagin. So I just wanna be ready any time.”
He did admit getting caught off guard, though, when coach Chris Gavina called him up in the latter part of the game.
“Actually nabigla ako. Pero as I’ve said I’m always ready anytime I’m called,” he said.
Teng hopes to fit into the system and finally prove his worth sooner than later.
“I hope na sa practice makapag-jell ako with the team and do better in the following games and get more minutes at the same time.” Onofre John Andres
