Rain or Shine, GlobalPort seek q’finals berth
Wrapping up their final assignments in the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup eliminations, Rain or Shine and GlobalPort both seek to be the sixth team to clinch a seat in the quarterfinals when they clash Sunday at Cuneta Astrodome.
The Elasto Painters are currently on a two-game skid and they’re hoping to end the skid just in time for the playoffs.
Losing to San Miguel and Meralco, Rain or Shine coach Caloy Garcia is hopeful that the nine-day break will be enough to snap the funk and force its way in the top six.
“As much as possible, we want to be in the top six. If we have a chance for the top two, why not? But now, we’re just looking forward on winning another game first,” he said, as he looks forward to this tilt against the Batang Pier and Alaska to end the E-Painters’ schedule.
GlobalPort, meanwhile, is also on a two-game losing streak after falling to San Miguel and TNT and wants to end the eliminations on a high note.
Game time is at 4:30 p.m., with the winner clinching a seat in the playoffs.
Both Rain or Shine (5-4) and GlobalPort (5-5) couldn’t afford to lose this game as they seek to get out of the bottom seeds or worse, out of the playoff picture.
