If there’s one team that can compete despite having limited time adjusting to a new import, it’s definitely Rain or Shine.
And if coach Yeng Guiao will be asked, he won’t change any bit.
“Mas maganda ang laro namin na all-Filipino,” he said. “It’s just the familiarity of the guys to the system, their cohesion, their chemistry. It’s all there.”
Those words rung true as the Elasto Painters scored a 103-88 win over Mahindra on Friday.
With new import Jason Forte having only a day to adapt to his new team, Rain or Shine had no problem in disposing the Enforcers.
And on Sunday, Forte will try to leave his imprint as the Elasto Painters clash against NLEX in the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup at Mall of Asia Arena.
But the returning reinforcement reiterated that he will try his best to complement the already loaded Rain or Shine squad as he relishes another chance to strut his stuff in the PBA.
“I’m just happy to be back. It’s easy to adjust to being physically exhausted, but mentally and emotionally, it will take a toll because of the excitement. But I’m great and I’m glad to be back,” he said.
At 4-4, Rain or Shine is hoping to at least eke its way into the top four, which comes with a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
NLEX, meanwhile, is just fighting for survival to make it to the playoffs
At 3-5, the Road Warriors are tied with Alaska and GlobalPort, all staking their claim at the eighth spot.
But coach Boyet Fernandez and import Henry Walker are aching to bounce back, especially after a couple of sorry losses to Meralco and Phoenix in NLEX’s last two games.
