San Miguel may have assured itself a twice-to-beat advantage in the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup quarterfinals, but it’s not leaving any stones unturned.
The Beermen are bringing back Elijah Millsap in their quest to defend their title, and the returning reinforcement gets his feet wet on Sunday as they close the eliminations against Blackwater at Alone Sports Stadium in BiƱan.
It’s completing an unfinished business for the 29-year-old Millsap, who led the then-Petron squad to the Finals in 2013 before falling to San Mig Coffee.
But first, he has to break in to the new San Miguel with coach Leo Austria now at the helm.
That transition, though, would be a bit eased as Millsap will enjoy a more seasoned squad as he plays anew
with June Mar Fajardo, Arwind Santos, and Chris Ross.
At 7-3, the Beermen can still get to as high as the number two-seed, depending on the result of the game between TNT and Ginebra later that day.
Blackwater, meanwhile, is just fighting for pride as it seeks a victory to end another forgettable season.
Game time is at 4:30 p.m.
