TNT, Meralco dispute 2-1 lead

The series may be dead even, but Meralco is going into Saturday’s game without a key cog.

Jared Dillinger is still doubtful for Game 3 of the best-of-5 semifinals series at Smart Araneta Coliseum, putting a dent to coach Norman Black’s armor when the Bolts face off against TNT at 5 p.m.

“That’s going to be a big loss if we lose him in this series,” said the mentor. “Hopefully, he’s ok. We just have to wait and see.”

It’s a huge blow for Meralco after its 106-91 win over TNT, dealing the KaTropa only their second loss of the conference.

“We played a lot better tonight than what we did in the first game,” said Black. “We played much better today offensively and defensively and we’re more prepared for them today.”

TNT, meanwhile, is eyeing to bounce back on what could probably its worst showing of the season.

“Just because our record in the eliminations was a very good record, which we will take anytime, it doesn’t mean that we can just show up and win any game,” said coach Jong Uichico. “We really need to play some defense, match their energy, match their intensity.”

Ryan Reyes (flu) and Mike Madanly (back) are expected to come back stronger for the KaTropa, providing much support for BPC frontrunner Jayson Castro.
