GlobalPort, leading from start to finish, cruised to a 108-80 crushing of NLEX in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
In notching their fifth win in nine outings, the Batang Pier now occupy solo fifth spot and are well within striking distance of a top four elims finish and a twice-to-win advantage in the quarterfinals.
Jarrid Famous frolicked in the paint all night and finished with 30 points, 24 rebounds four assists, two steals and three blocks while Terrence Romeo fired 22 markers. Omar Krayem added 19 points for GlobalPort, which already enjoyed a 34-16 bulge early in the second canto.
“We caught them off guard kasi galing sila sa hard game against Rain or Shine,” said GlobalPort coach Pido Jarencio. “Kami naman well rested kami. Mas naging agressive kami.”
“We have a big chance na pumasok sa playoffs.”
Asi Taulava carried the fight for NLEX, recording 23 points and six rebounds. Imports Kwame Alexander and Michael Madanly were held to 14 and 12 points, respectively.
The Road Warriors dropped to 2-7, just half a game ahead of tailender Blackwater. (JL)
