TALK N TEXT TAPS JORDAN TO REPLACE HARVEY
Philippine Cup three-peat champion Talk n Text is leaning on former New York Knicks center Jerome Jordan in a bid to avoid a disastrous finish in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Still scrambling to make the Top Eight with two games left in the elimination round, the Tropang Texters are bringing in Jordan to take over from Donnell Harvey, who had to rush home to attend to his three children who figured in a car mishap in Atlanta.
Jordan, fresh from a stint with the LA D-Fenders in the NBA D-League, is coming over in time for Talk n Text’s crucial match with Barangay Ginebra Sunday.
The 26-year-old seven-foot Jamaican played college ball with Tulsa in 2006 to 2010 and was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks at 44th overall in the 2010 NBA Draft.
He was traded to the New York Knicks on July 8, 2010 for cash considerations, and was in and out of the Knicks lineup from 2010 to 2012.
He has since drifted to the NBA D-League, playing his last game with the LA D-Fenders only three days ago. He averaged 11.7 points and 7.2 rebounds as a D-Fender.
Jordan had a good collegiate background, named to the Conference USA First Team in 2009 and Second Team in 2010.
Jordan owns the Conference USA career blocks record and shares a record for a single-game high of eight with Kenyon Martin.
But he has a job cut out for him at the Talk n Text team that badly needs an inside presence on the departure of both Harvey and Kelly Williams.
The Texters are at joint fifth with the Meralco Bolts and the San Mig Coffee Mixers at 6-6, having lost two of their last three games. (SB)
