DIGOS, Davao del Sur – Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao has twice in the past dropped by and participated in a special game at the Davao del Sur Coliseum here.

The guessing game is whether he does the same for the Legends Game of the 2013 PBA All-Star Week here set Friday.

“There’s a big possibility that he’ll drop by to play if his schedule permits. He’s busy campaigning for his brother and wife,” said Davao del Sur Governor Douglas Cagas.

“Manny used to work in this capitol in his younger years. He has appeared here to play twice,” Cagas also said.

Pacquiao, from the nearby South Cotabato province, himself has asked Cagas whether he can join the Legends Game featuring Benjie Paras, Jerry Codinera, Bong Hawkins, Bong Ravena, Vince Hizon and Noli Locsin among others.

“The PBA will be happy to provide Pacman this cross-training opportunity as he awaits confirmation of his next fight. Our basketball legends and stars will surely give the ultimate boxing legend the workout that he’s craving for,” said PBA commissioner Chito Salud.

Divided into two teams – Team Stalwarts and Team Greats, the retired PBA stars and some active stars compete in the Legends Game serving as the main feature of the All-Star Friday.

The skills events, starting at 5 p.m., usher in the Legends Game set at 7:30 p.m.

If ever, the boxing star joins Paras, Ravena, Dickie Bachmann, Topex Robinson, Ronald Tubid, Chris Tiu, JC Intal, Willie Miller, Mark Macapagal and Jervy Cruz in Team Stalwarts who will be up against Team Greats composed of Hawkins, Codinera, Hizon, Locsin, Johnedel Cardel, Paul Lee, Mark Barroca, Mike Cortez, Cliff Hodge, PJ Simon and Joe Devance.

During break in boxing, Pacquiao regularly plays basketball. He has a basketball team in MP GenSan.

Codinera has been named to be the playing coach for Team Greats while Kenneth Duremdes is to call the shots for Team Stalwarts. (SB)
