CAGUIOA: PHYSICALITY IS PART OF GAME
“Physicality is part of the game.”
This was how Barangay Ginebra San Miguel superstar Mark Caguioa reacted to comments and complaints from their fans after their much-talked about heated semifinal Game 4 against the Talk ‘N Text.
“Physicality comes with the game especially now that it’s the playoffs, you need to be tougher even more,” said Caguioa in an interview with www.pba.ph.
The charismatic Ginebra leader even advised his teammates not to be affected by whatever their opponents will come up with in a game.
“Hindi ka pwedeng lalamya-lamya rito (sa playoffs). Kung maapektukhan ka ng patira-tira o sikuhan o balyahan. Talo ka. That’s part of the game,” he added.
Known to be a fierce competitor for the whole duration of his 12-year career, Caguioa advised his teammates to just go with the flow and remain focused.
“How you react to physicality in a game is how it will affect your game. It’s up to you how you gonna take it. If you take it in a bad way… mawawala ka talaga sa game,” said Caguioa.
“If you take it as challenge, dun ka magiging focused lalo, kaso you treat (cheap shots) as a challenge,” emphasized ‘the Spark’.
In their previous game versus the Tropang Texters last Friday, fans reacted vehemently to the hard fouls and physical brand of defense some of the Tropang Texters applied on Ginebra players, particularly import Vernon Macklin.
But instead of sulking, Caguioa furthermore enticed his team and their legion of fans to stay focused on the ultimate target — win this series and earn a Finals slot for the first time since the 2011 Commissioner’s Cup.(SBadua)
