LAGUNA EYES SWEEP OF COCA-COLA PBA YOUNGSTARS TOURNEY
Cebu has 24 hours to turn its fate around and seal its destiny in the 2013 Coca-Cola PBA Youngstars National Championship.
Or they can have Laguna do it for them.
Unless the Cebuanos can unravel the riddle of powerhouse Laguna, they could end up getting walloped again Friday in the all-important final game at the Blue Eagle gym.
Gametime is set at 4 p.m., with the scent of a potential upset heavy in the air. Still, it could all be wishful thinking for Cebu.
Frederick Tungcab scored 22 points and Gio Calacalsada contributed 17 as Laguna routed Cebu, 72-41, at the close of eliminations Thursday at the JCSGO gym to arrange what could be an anti-climactic showdown for the title.
The representatives of the Visayas entered the much-awaited encounter with fellow unbeaten Laguna holding a 4-0 slate but never got anything going.
In other games, KABAKA-Manila clobbered Cagayan de Oro, 80-65, behind the 15 points of Tommy Gadaria and the 14 of Ivan Andaya, while Pampanga romped over San Juan City, 94-65, with Jamil Garcia and Allen Paul de la Cruz pouring 18 points each.
Laguna wrapped up the elimination round with a five-game sweep. Cebu came in second with a 4-1 card followed by Pampanga (3-2), KABAKA-Manila (2-3), Cagayan de Oro (1-4), and San Juan (0-5).
