It may always be cloudy and overcast this time of the year, but expect the PBA to continue spreading the sunshine.

The league, through its Alagang PBA outreach program, once again brought smiles to cancer and hematology ward patients of the Philippine Children’s Medical Center.

No less than Commissioner Atty. Chito Salud led players and staff in the PBA Soup Kitchen feeding program supported by Papa John’s Pizza, MyPhone, Toby’s, New San Jose Builders, Philweb, Smart and Air21 Monday morning.

“I hope ang mga kabataan natin na ito napalapit na ang puso ng PBA at mga sponsors sa kanila,” said Salud in his speech to more than 500 children patients.

“Gusto lang naming maipadala na hindi lamang po mga players at team owners ng mga PBA ang nagmamahal sa inyo. Pati ang aming mga sponsors,” added the dynamic league chieftain.

Aside from feeding the kids, the PBA also gave away loot bags and souvenirs, personally handed by PBA stars Danny Ildefonso, Alex Cabagnot, Dylan Ababou, Chris Ellis, Sunday Salvacion, Ali Peek, Rabeh Al-Hussaini, Mac Baracael, Roger Yap and Jonas Villanueva.

Also present were Wesley Gonzales, Dorian Pena, Jay-R Reyes, Woody Co, Mark Borboran, Mark Barroca, Jonathan Uyloan, Rey Guevarra and Paul Sorongon.

“We will continue to do this. Every year we are here, different players come, different players are touched by you. Kids, count our blessings.

“I say this not just to all our players but to all our staff and to all the hardworking, sincere and genuine people here at PCMC who are working with these kids. Count your blessings. God will always be with us so long as our hearts remain pure.”

From a once a year visit, the league has intensified its CSR programs at the PCMC where most players are also silently giving financial assistance.

“Walang ibang hangad ang PBA kungdi magdala ng kasiyahan sa ating mga kababayan sa pamamagitan ng ating mga players,” said Salud.

MyPhone president Jaime Alcantara told pba.ph that he will also start naming the PCMC cancer and hematology center ward as beneficiaries.

“Na-touch ako sa mga bata. Ang hirap ng kalagayan nila. So I will tell my staff to coordinate with the Alagang PBA and PCMC. Tutulong na rin tayo,” said Alcantara of his cellphone company’s intention to reach out to our unfortunate brothers and sisters. (SBadua)
