Eight Governors’ Cup imports have successfully passed the tape test.
Talk n’ Text Tropang Texters reinforcement Tony Mitchell may well be the tallest in the present batch with an official PBA height of 6-4 15/16.
It was a close shave for Mitchell, who was measured at exactly the height limit of 6-5 at first.
Representatives of the other teams who were present as witnesses then asked for a re-measurement. After seeing to it that the proper procedure had been followed, Mitchell was measured to be 6-4 15/16.
Mitchell played briefly for TNT in the Commissioner’s Cup but was not measured then because the conference was open to imports with no height limit.
Frostbyte learned that most teams normally ask their imports to run and undergo rigid training before they are measured.
“Nakakatulong din yun, kailangang pagurin mo ng todo kasi pag pinagpawisan medyo umuurong yung height mo nun. Dehydrated ka kasi,” said one team representative who refused to be named.
“Tapos hindi namin papakainin yun,” he added. “Minsan, pinagsa-sauna namin. Mas mabilis pawisan pag gnun eh.”
So far, the Meralco Bolts remain as the only team without an import, though team governor Ramon Segismundo told Frostbyte that they will announce their chosen one on Sunday.
