PEÑA RETURNS TO BARAKO, KRAMER JUMPS OVER TO PETRON
Petron Blaze and Barako Bull tweaked their rosters two days before the start of the 2013 PBA Governors Cup, figuring in a trade that involved Doug Kramer, Dorian Pena and a future draft pick.
The Boosters, now under coach Gie Abanilla and team consultant Todd Purves, chose younger blood over experience in taking in Kramer for Pena plus Petron’s 2013 second round choice.
Kramer, 26, moved to his sixth team after Air21, Ginebra, Rain or Shine, Powerade and Barako Bull.
The 36-year-old Pena, meanwhile, returned to Barako Bull, the team where he had a previous brief stint last season.
Signed up as a direct hire recruit by San Miguel Beer in 2000, Pena is now in his 12th season in the PBA.
Through last season, Pena averaged 7.7 points a game while Kramer normed 6.2 an outing.
Petron Blaze has earlier given up Jay Washington to pave the way for Japeth Aguilar’s transfer from Globalport to Barangay Ginebra.
The season-ending Governors Cup fires off Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena with Air21 and Globalport mixing it up in the 5:15 p.m. opener followed by the 7:30 p.m. tussle between Rain or Shine and San Mig Coffee. (SB)
