Mark Caguioa and Dior Lowhorn combined for 63 points and Mac Baracael nailed three charities with three-tenths of a second left as Barangay Ginebra topped Rain or Shine, 101-100, in a well-fought match Saturday.

Ginebra coach Ato Agustin admitted they’re lucky to get a foul on the crucial play between shooter Baracael and defender Beau Belga.

Getting the call from referee Nol Quilingen, Baracael went to the line and coolly sank the freebies turning the game around for Ginebra.

With the win, the Kings caught up with the Alaska Milk Aces and the Globalport Batang Pier at sixth place at 3-4, half-game behind the Elasto Painters (4-4) and the Barako Bull Energy Cola (4-4).

Earlier, Arizona Reid knocked in a tough jumper with Lowhorn all over him as the Elasto Painters took a two-point lead, 100-98, with two seconds left to play.

The Kings, however, salvaged the game on Baracael’s free throws, thus, enhancing their chance for the PBA Governors Cup playoff phase.

Preserved by Baracael’s charities were Caguioa’s 32-point explosion and Lowhorn’s 31-point outing.

Reid scattered 40 points and JR Quinahan, Paul Lee and Belga added at least 10 each for the E-Painters who engaged the Kings in a battle marked by 10 deadlocks and seven lead changes. (SB)
