AFTER MENK & TAULAVA, SEIGLE FINDS WAY BACK IN CLASS OF ’99 REUNION
After Eric Menk, another member of Class ’99 is making a comeback in the Philippine Basketball Association.
Danny Seigle, who became a free agent when Barako Bull released him prior to the start of the 2014 Season, has found a new home with defending champion Talk N Text.
Paolo Trillo, the new team manager of the Tropang Texters, confirmed to pba.ph the inclusion of the former Rookie of the Year awardee to their squad.
“But he won’t make it to Thursday’s game because he will only join practice tomorrow,” said Trillo in a telephone interview.
Seigle’s addition to the Tropang Texters’ line up came as a big surprise.
The 6-foot-6 forward previously talked to Meralco, Talk N Text’s sister team, and the Bolts camp have expressed serious interest taking him in.
Earlier, Seigle’s batchmates – Asi Taulava and Eric Menk – expressed optimism that their friend will soon find his way back.
“He deserves another shot, especially after a solid conference with Barako,” said Taulava in a text message.
Menk said he’s been keeping track of Seigle and was surprised that he was released by Barako.
“I thought he had a solid season with them (Barako). It came as a big shock not seeing him playing,” he added.
Seigle explained earlier that he and Barako Bull management had agreed in principle only that the offer was rescinded at the last minute.
“We agreed on principle. To my surprise, at the last minute, the offer was rescinded. It’s the first time in my career that I became a free agent,” Seigle said.
But that episode is not history as Seigle should once again grace the PBA hardcourts sooner than later. (RJ)
