STRETCH THE RUN OR ARREST THE SKID?
Rain or Shine seeks to extend its winning streak to four while GlobalPort eyes to end a three-game slide when the two teams clash Sunday in the 2014 PLDT myDSL PBA Philippine Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Fresh from a 101-77 rout of San Mig Super Coffee in the final game of 2013 last Sunday, the Elasto Painters would like to start the year on a high note and much of the load is expected to be borne by Paul Lee and Jeff Chan, who both sizzled from three-point country in their last two games.
The win over San Mig Coffee was also Raymond Almazan’s breakout game for the E-Painters, as he registered his first double-double as a pro with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, the Batang Pier hope for a fresh start to the year after suffering a 108-95 letdown at the hands of Barako Bull on the same gameday.
GlobalPort guard Sol Mercado said that the game is still reflective of where they are as a team, given the infusion of rookies into their rotation.
“We’re still in the process of building chemistry and knowing each other,” he said.
Tip-off is at 3 p.m. (RLeongson)
