THE KRAKEN WALKS THE LONG ROAD BACK TO FORM
Three weeks after being sidelined with a sprained ACL, Petron Blaze center June Mar Fajardo made his return in the Boosters’ 98-87 win over GlobalPort Friday.
The 6-foot-10 behemoth scored 12 points, hauled down six boards, and had two rejections in 24 minutes off the bench, but it is evident that the Cebu native is still favoring his injured leg.
“Medyo naiilang pa ko sa injury ko,” Fajardo said after the game. “May mga moves na may kirot ng konti pero inaalalayan ko na lang.”
The Kraken said that he feels he is about 75 to 80 percent on his way back to his form prior to the setback, and the layoff really factored in on his return.
“Medyo nangalawang nga. Nung first week kasi na na-injure ako, wala talagang ginagawa. Nasa bahay lang ako,” he said.
But Fajardo is eager to get back on the hardcourt, specially since Petron is chasing a top two finish to end the eliminations.
“Kailangan eh,” he said. “Kahapon pa ako sumasabay sa kanila sa practice, pero hindi pa ako masyadong nakikipagbugbugan. Walkthrough pa lang.”
But he believes that he’ll get back to his MVP-contender form in no time.
“Alam kong andun si God na inaalalayan ako,” Fajardo said. “Nagpapasalamat din ako sa mga taong nagpe-pray sa kin, para gumaling ako sa injury ko.” (RL)
