After losing Game 4 last Friday to San Mig Coffee, 90-93, Rain or Shine is now faced with the daunting task of digging itself up from a 1-3 deficit in the 2014 PLDT myDSL PBA Philippine Cup Finals.

For Air21 coach Franz Pumaren, the challenge is a tough one, but it is not something insurmountable.

“The most important thing that they have to do is to win Game 5. They have to put themselves in a position where they can tie the series on Game 6 and possibly even stretch the series to a decider. But they have to start it on Game 5,” said Pumaren.

Winning Sunday’s game can also change the complexion of the series, Pumaren said, which could give the Elasto Painters an additional boost if they pull out the win.

“It’s an additional incentive for Rain or Shine because they will surely get the momentum back,” he said.

He also said that the status of Marc Pingris in Game 5 will be a big factor, given that the Pinoy Sakuragi has always been the defensive and emotional leader for the Coffee Mixers.

“If he’ll be able to play on Sunday, it will be a much harder task for Rain or Shine,” Pumaren said.

“But it’s the Finals. One of those players is expected to step up.” (RL)
