BOONE OUT, JONES IN
San Miguel Beer has finally decided to replace Josh Boone with Kevin Jones.
The 24-year-old Jones flew into the country on Saturday, and will be filling the void for Boone who has posted averages of 24 points and 18.5 boards in his two games for the Beermen.
Boone, an NBA first round draft pick, led San Miguel to a 112-96 rout of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel on Saturday behind his 32 points, 21 rebounds, and two blocks as the Beermen raced to a 2-0 start for the Commissioner’s Cup.
Quite impressive numbers but still they were not enough as SMB management decided to push through with their import replacement and field in Jones, a D-League All-Star who played for the Canton Charge.
The 6-foot-8 Jones normed 23.6 points and 12.6 rebounds in the D-League.
Here is San Miguel Beer’s official statement on the matter.
“We would like to thank Josh for his effort and professionalism. He showed a lot of heart while wearing a Beermen uniform. We look forward to enjoying Josh’s future success as he will always be a member of the Beermen Family.” (RL)
