ARRESTING THE SKID
The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings and the GlobalPort Batang Pier are both hopeful they will be able to get over the hump in time.
One of them ends an alarming skid as they square off in the PLDT Home TVolution PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome Friday.
The Batang Pier go for a first win in five starts while the Kings hope to snap a two-game losing skein in their 8 p.m. tiff.
Under the microscope is Ginebra import Leon Rodgers.
The Ginebra management and coaching staff admit they’re evaluating Rodgers’ game as well as the performance of everyone else in the team.
The same must be the case at GlobalPort, the lone remaining winless team in the tourney at 0-4.
“Binubuo pa ang chemistry, pero mabubuo rin yan,” said GlobalPort coach Pido Jarencio.
The Batang Pier lost their first four outings under Jarencio versus the Air21 Express (78-83), the Alaska Aces (77-93), the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers (75-91) and the Meralco Bolts (99-104).
In almost all of their games, the Batang Pier lost steam and firepower at the finish.
The big question now is whether they have got what it takes to keep up with the highly formidable Ginebra squad.
The Kings topped the Barako Bull Energy, 108-104, in overtime before dropping tough matches against the San Miguel Beermen (96-112) and the San Mig Coffee Mixers (80-90). (SB)
