The fans can finally heave a sigh of relief.

Amid constant clamor from the Ginebra faithful, the Kings have formally decided to replace import Leon Rodgers with Josh Powell.

Rodgers averaged 30.3 points and 10.2 rebounds in his six games for Barangay Ginebra, but could only steer the crowd favorites to a paltry 2-4 card, good only for eighth alongside Barako Bull in this short second conference.

In his last game against Air21, the 33-year-old Northern Illinois alumnus only had 18 points and was benched for almost the entire fourth quarter, save for the dying seconds when he misfired on his potential game-tying shot, sending Ginebra to its fourth loss in six outings.

Fans noticed how the team struggled with Rodgers, raised by the concerns on the dip in production of its Twin Towers – Japeth Aguilar and Greg Slaughter.

The 6-foot-9 Powell is an NBA veteran who was a member of the Los Angeles Lakers squad which won back-to-back championships in 2009 and 2010. He also had stints with Dallas, Indiana, Golden State, LA Clippers, and Atlanta in the NBA, and has also suited up in the NBA D-League, Russia, Italy, Greece, Puerto Rico, and most recently in China with the Guangdong Southern Tigers, where he normed 15 points, 9.9 boards, and 1.6 assists per game.
