San Miguel Beermen-KABAKA battles Barangay Ginebra-Valenzuela while Air21 Express-Las Pinas takes on Alaska Aces-Malabon Thursday in the Gatorade Batang PBA Summer League at the Marikina Sports Complex.
In Wednesday’s games, PBA Greats-Caloocan downed San Miguel Beermen-Manila-KABAKA, 46-34, as Clarence Guevarra and John Dhel Austria each had 12 points, while San Mig Coffee-Antipolo turned back Meralco-Pasig, 34-29; and GlobalPort-Marikina drubbed Barako Bull-San Juan, 51-38.
In recent matches, PBA Stalwarts-Taguig edged San Miguel Beer-Antipolo, 41-38; Air21-Las Pinas turned back Rain or Shine-Muntinlupa, 41-34; and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel-Valenzuela nipped Alaska-Malabon, 59-58.
Nathan Guevarra led Taguig with 14 points, Jacob Ilagan bannered Las Pinas with 12, and Keanu Catipay paced Valenzuela with 15 points.
A total of 12 teams with players ranging from 9 to 12 years old are divided into two groups, according to tournament director Ramil Cruz, with each team playing five elimination round games. The top two teams from each group then advance to the crossover semifinals, with the winners meeting in the finals.
