GETTING BACK IN THE GROOVE
With the elimination round nearing its end, both Rain or Shine and Air21 know that their fates lie in their hands.
Tied at sixth with a 3-4 card, the Elasto Painters and the Express collide at 5:45 p.m Monday in the PLDT Home TVolution PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Rain or Shine is still reeling from their 85-83 loss at the hands of Talk ‘N Text, courtesy of a late game rebounding gaffe by import Wayne Chism.
But the Elasto Painters are hoping to right their ship with the return of coach Yeng Guiao, who is back after a two-week business trip abroad.
“Considering my absence, I thought they gave a good effort against Talk ‘N Text,” Guiao said.
He added, “I’m also confident that the guys understand the importance of our game versus Air21 and they will step up to the occasion. We have not played to our potential this conference, but once we get our game going, we will give the rest of the teams some problems.”
Meanwhile, Air21 hopes to bounce back from their 84-97 loss to San Mig Super Coffee just in time for the quarterfinals.
Both the Express and the E-Painters are now assured of seats in the quarters, courtesy of GlobalPort eliminating Barako Bull from the playoff chase on Sunday, and will just be battling to avoid the last two spots which come with a twice-to-beat disadvantage. (RL)
