TNT STUDS GO 1-2 IN STATS FOR BPC DERBY
Talk ‘N Text’s Jayson Castro and Ranidel de Ocampo ascended to the top of the statistical points list for the Best Player of the Conference after the quarterfinal phase of the 2014 PLDT Home TVolution PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The Blur had 30.2 statistical points (SP) to take the pole position after averaging 13.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists, while RDO normed 15.5 markers, 4.3 boards, and 1.0 dime per outing to stay within striking distance at 30.0 SP.
Advancing to the semis boosted the Texters’ stick, with former number one June Mar Fajardo (29.8 SP) and Arwind Santos (29.1 SP), both from ousted San Miguel Beer, fell to third and fourth, respectively.
Asi Taulava, the league’s eldest statesman at 41 years old, also rose to the top five spot with 27.9 SP, after leading Air21 to its first-ever franchise semifinals appearance.
Rounding out the top 10 are Gary David of Meralco (26.5 SP), Rain or Shine’s Paul Lee (25.6), Marcio Lassiter (25.3) and Chris Ross (24.4) of the Beermen, and Ginebra’s Greg Slaughter (24.0).
Four other Tropang Texters made the top 15 – Jimmy Alapag (11th), Larry Fonacier (12th), Nino Canaleta (tied for 13th), and Kelly Williams (15th).
In the Best Import race, Talk ‘N Text once again took the top honors with Richard Howell leading the pack with 53.4 SP, after averaging 22.8 points, 19.9 markers, 1.4 assists, and 1.6 steals.
San Miguel Beer’s Kevin Jones is at second with 50.9, followed by Meralco’s Darnell Jackson at third (49.8), Barako Bull’s Joshua Dollard (49.4), and GlobalPort’s Evan Brock (47.7). (RL)
