ROOKIE DRAFT APPLICATION DEADLINES; FIL-FOREIGN – JULY 8; LOCAL-BORN – AUGUST 13
Time once again for our budding young dribblers to step up and take on the challenge of the big boys.
The PBA is once again opening its doors to young players hoping to be the stars of tomorrow as the league announced key dates for the upcoming 2014 PBA Rookie Draft.
First, Fil-foreign rookie hopefuls have until July 8 to submit their applications and documentary requirements.
Just a few expected to come from this group are Chris Banchero and Stanley Pringle.
Three days after the deadline, the list of applicants will be given to the member teams, after which four weeks can contest the eligibility of any applicant.
The final list of eligible Fil-foreign hopefuls will be released on August 13, which coincides with the deadline for local-born applicants to submit their applications and pertinent documents.
PBA D-League MVP Kevin Alas, Garvo Lanete, Ronald Pascual, Matt Ganuelas and possibly, Bobby Ray Parks are reportedly set to jump to the pro league.
The Rookie Camp Biometrics is slated on August 18, before the league formally welcomes the new breed in the annual Rookie Draft, to be held on August 24 at Robinson’s Place Midtown. (RL)
