RAIN OR SHINE CLIPS GINEBRA IN BIÑAN
Rain or Shine extended its winning run to three with a 117-108 win over Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the 2014 PLDT Home Telpad PBA Governors’ Cup at the Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna.
The win tied the Elasto Painters at fifth place with San Miguel Beer, both carrying a 4-3 slate.
Arizona Reid picked up where he left off in their Alaska game as he banged in 31 points, with Paul Lee adding 24 markers in a balanced scoring game for ROS.
Jeff Chan also had 18 points and Beau Belga chimed in 12 for coach Yeng Guiao.
Rain or Shine used a 12-0 run to open the third quarter to get enough breathing room and establish a 65-59 lead midway through the period, and then padded the edge to 17, 94-77 early in the fourth.
Greg Slaughter, Zaccheus Mason, and LA Tenorio managed to chomp the lead down to six, 108-102, with 2:10 left, but Reid and Lee had the answers to whatever Ginebra dished off.
Mason led Ginebra with 25 points, while Slaughter finished with 20.
The backcourt combo of Tenorio (13), JJ Helterbrand (12), and Mark Caguioa (11) also logged in double digits.
The Kings tasted their second loss in six games, dropping them to a three-way tie at second together with Air21 and San Mig Coffee. (RL)
