TEXTERS NOT TAKING ANY CHANCES VS ENERGY
No. 1 seed Talk n Text is hoping there won’t any surprises when it tackles Barako Bull to open hostilities the PLDT Home Telpad Governors’ Cup quarterfinals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Tuesday.
Gametime is at 5:45 p.m.
“I’m just looking at our next game against Barako Bull. That’s gonna be an interesting contest considering the last time out, they beat us,” said TNT coach Norman Black. “We have to come out and match their energy.”
The Grand Slam-winning coach was talking about their 74-88 defeat to the Energy last June 10, where Allen Durham had a monster outing with 28 points, 29 rebounds and two blocks in only his second game in the PBA. The win enabled Barako Bull to book a quarterfinals seat.
For Talk n Text, Black has stumbled upon an old reliable in Paul Harris, who shot the lights out in their last two games.
Black downplayed TNT’s claim of the top-seeding, their second in as many conferences, and told his boys not to be blinded by the records.
“It means that we’re winning games. But our focus right now is against Barako Bull,” he said.
“The good thing is that both of our squads will have one day to prepare for our quarterfinals.”
The Tropang Texters own a twice-to-beat advantage over the Energy. (RL)
