Game 1 of the PLDT Home Telpad Governors’ Cup Finals did not end without its share of drama at the Mall of Asia Arena Tuesday.

Down by three in the dying seconds of the game, Rain or Shine court general Paul Lee went for the three-pointer hoping to send the game into overtime. San Mig Super Coffee forward Marc Pingris challenged the shot. There was contact but no call was made.

Some quarters said it was a good no-call by the game officials. Others say a foul should have been called.

Here is the statement of PBA commissioner Chito Salud on the final play:

“Upon review of the play, this Office finds it to be a straight-up borderline call that could have gone either way. It was a down the line, 50-50 judgment call. It can be debated and second guessed, but the referees’ judgment cannot be faulted under the circumstances.”
