After a season full or promise, Greg Slaughter is now more motivated to tow Barangay Ginebra San Miguel back to its glory days.

Last season’s Rookie of the Year wants to achieve far greater goals this time, and he’s really focused on achieving team-based feats this year.

“The most motivating thing for me is not winning a championship last year,” said the 7-foot center. “I really want to win.”

A testament to this drive Slaughter has is his off-season training with Kirk Collier, a well-known skills coach, here in Manila

“He’s been a big help. Right now, we’re putting more attention to the details,” said the Cebuano slotman.

Slaughter believes that this season would be big for the Kings, and all they have to do is to believe in the system coach Jeff Cariaso has instilled in the team.

Slaughter said, “I think that us players need to trust and buy into the triangle system coach Jeff has planned for us. We go back early on August 18, so we’ll have a lot of time to get more acquainted with it.”

Ginebra’s gentle giant is making sure he’s got all bases covered as they prepare to go back to the battlefield in the hopes of ending a six-year championship drought. (RL)
