Now that the contracts of some players are expiring this coming August 31, fans can’t help but ask what are the maximum allowable contracts for each blue chip cager.

Well, it’s been well publicized that a player can only receive as much as 420,000 pesos monthly salary. The minimum salary cap is 50,000 pesos.

But this is not the only amount that will reflect on a player’s bank account as there are still bonuses that the league allows each team to give away.

FEATURED STORIES

Here is a quick rundown of the ceiling for won game bonuses:

Eliminations and quarterfinals  – Php   6,000/game; Semifinals  – Php   8,000/game; Finals  – Php 10,000/game.

The league also allows phase (entering) bonuses where players get to receive a part of their monthly salary based on how the team fares in a conference.

If a team enters the Quarterfinals, it can give players up to a maximum of  ¼ of a player’s monthly salary. For entering the Semifinals, a maximum of ¾ of a player’s monthly salary and for making it to the Finals, not more than 1½ of a player’s monthly salary.

PBA operations head Rickie Santos told Frostbyte that if a team wins a championship, a minimum bonus of at least 2 months the monthly salary of a player is required.

“Pag nag champion ang team, wala nang limit ang bonus na pwede nilang ibigay. Basta’t hindi bababa sa equivalent ng 2 months salary yun,” said Santos.

Players are also given extra perks whenever they are given personal performance awards like being named MVP and other career achievements.
