GINEBRA TO GO FOR BEST AVAILABLE TALENT
Already boasting a loaded lineup, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is still out to beef up its lineup in the coming 2014 Gatorade PBA Rookie Draft.
Assistant coach Olsen Racela was present in the 2014 Gatorade Draft Combine, scouting possible rookies whom they might deem fit for the Kings’ triangle.
“Wala namang specific position kaming tinitingnan kasi puno na kami actually. Titingnan namin yung best available talent when our turn comes kaya tinitignan namin kung sino ang okay,” he said.
Racela added that Ginebra would not hesitate to pick the best talent available when their turn at the sixth pick comes.
“Whatever position, pwede kami. It’s better to look at them up close, like sa mga measurement, minsan exaggerated yung height eh,” he said. “We want a player who will not really look for minutes pero pag pinasok mo, quality minutes, whether it be a big man or a wing guy. Yun ang tinitingnan namin, yung magpapahirap sa players namin in practice.”
He also added that the team is interested in a number of guys, and even gave a few names which might still be available when their turn to select comes.
“Ang gusto namin sina Jake Pascual, (Rodney) Brondial. We’re looking at more of the role players dahil medyo puno na yung Ginebra,” Racela said.
“Hopefully at number six, may makuha pa kaming ok.” (RL)
