After months of drama between the two camps, Paul Lee and the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters have finally solved their dilemma.
With all the hullabaloo which surrounded the saga, from the squad’s team owners Raymond Yu and Terry Que, to coach Yeng Guiao, and to Lee’s agent Lawrence Chongson, the parties seem to have all come out happy.
And for the man of the hour, Paul Lee himself, he thinks that it’s just unfortunate that the incident has been blown out of proportion.
“Marami na akong nadaanang problema na mas grabe pa sa contract ko. Tingin ko di naman ganung ka-grabe yung issue sa contract ko kaya walang reason para ma-bother ako,” the 6-foot Tondo spitfire said. “So far, nakapag-usap na kami ni coach Yeng. Hinihintay na lang yung signal ng mga bosses.”
Rain or Shine drafted Lee, a former UE Red Warrior, as the second overall pick in the loaded 2011 PBA Draft, where he went in alongside the amateurs who were parts of the original Smart Gilas squad.
Lee got in touch with Guiao, his feisty Rain or Shine coach, last Tuesday.
And the talk seemed to have fixed all of the misunderstandings the past few weeks, as Lee is set to ink a new deal with the Elasto Painters.
“Ok na. Ilang days na lang ang hinihintay. Signal na lang ng mga bosses ang hinihintay,” he said, as the Gilas cager prepares to join Gilas Pilipinas once more for the Asian Games in Korea.
“Sana maayos na ang lahat bago ako lumipad,” he said. (RL)
