If the recent movements in the offseason were any indication, there is no doubt that Talk ‘N Text is serious in its rebuilding.

With players slowly coming from injuries and Gilas stints, the Tropang Texters have made a conscious effort to beef up their lineup with tested veterans in Jay Washington and Larry Rodriguez, as well as a promising rookie in Matt Ganuelas Rosser.

And with these new acquisitions, Talk ‘N Text governor and current league chairman Patrick Gregorio hopes that the new chapter of TNT basketball under the guidance of coach Jong Uichico will relive the franchise’s championship run.

“Yung panahon na napakaganda ng performance ng Talk ‘N Text ay nasusubukan na rin,” he said. “We need new players and we’re trying to rebuild.”

Under coach Chot Reyes and flanked by Jimmy Alapag and Jayson Castro, the team won four titles in three years, including three straight Philippine Cup titles from 2011 to 2013.

Since then, however, Talk n Text had been without a title and the Texters seem to have been pushed to the sidelines in the shadows of Grand Slam champ San Mig Coffee and Rain or Shine.

With a revamped cast, TNT now hopes to start its way back to the top.

Gregorio said, “We have to do that. We are undergoing the changing of the guards sa Talk ‘N Text.” (RL)
