UNDERMANNED ALASKA ROUTS BARAKO BULL IN PALAWAN
Alaska got off to a hot start and never looked back as it dealt Barako Bull a 109-82 beating Friday in a 2014 PBA Holcim Liga ng Bayan Preseason Game at the Puerto Princesa Coliseum in Palawan.
Cyrus Baguio scored 10 of his 16 points in the first half as the Aces jumped ahead to a 21-11 advantage before the end of the first quarter before the Energy tried to climb back in the game and trimmed the lead to just five, 42-37.
After Alaska again broke away anew, Barako Bull closed in again, 78-68, at the end of the third, but the Aces were just too much in the payoff period, pouring 31 points to end the preseason contest.
Chris Banchero had a roaring debut for the Aces with his 14 points, while Calvin Abueva added 13.
Vic Manuel and Dondon Hontiveros also combined for 22 in the victory for the Aces who won big despite missing the services of injured key frontliners Sonny Thoss and Gabby Espinas.
Denok Miranda and RR Garcia led Barako Bull with 11 points apiece, while Mick Pennisi added 10 for Barako Bull head coach Siot Tangquingcen in the defeat.
