HAPPY TO BE BACK
Japeth Aguilar is just happy to return to the PBA.
“I miss playing for Ginebra. I’m excited to play again for Ginebra,” he said.
Coming off of a stint with Gilas Pilipinas in Spain and Korea, Aguilar admitted that he treasures the experience he gained from his time with the national team, and he’ll be bringing the lessons he learned from there to his game.
“Malaking bagay yung natutunan ko dun experience-wise. Taking every game as important as the other and yung preparation, yun yung mga maia-apply ko sa career ko,” Aguilar said.
And as early as now, it looks like the lessons are paying off. Aguilar gave the Ginebra throng a lot of reasons to go home with wide smiles pasted on their happy faces as he came through with an 18-point, 18-rebound and 5-block performance in Ginebra’s 101-81 rout of Talk ‘N Text on Sunday.
“I just treated it as a good start for the team. Hopefully, we build from this win and sana mag-improve pa yung team. Marami pa kaming pwedeng ayusin,” the Kapampangan dunking ace said.
And what better way for Aguilar to have that remarkable performance in front of 52,612 fans inside the Philippine Arena for the season opener.
“Honored ako to play before that huge crowd. Never ko na-imagine na magkakaroon ng arena na gantong kalaki. I’m just happy that we’re back.” (RL)
